Austin's Most Popular Dog Parks

Auditorium Shores Dog Park (920 W Riverside Drive, Austin)

Auditorium Shores Dog Park is a popular choice among both local and visiting dog owners, situated right along the water in a central location next to downtown Austin. The park offers expansive city and water views, making it an enjoyable outing for owners while their dogs run and swim. Note that the park is not enclosed, and several bike paths and walking trails wrap around the area, so it may not be the best fit for dogs that are not comfortable around bikes or larger groups of people.

Domain Central Dog Park (11100 Alterra Pkwy, Austin)

Located within Domain Central Park, this fully fenced dog park with double gates on both sides is a local favorite often described as a hidden gem. There is plenty of room to play fetch, chairs for sitting, and shade trees to keep things cool on hot Texas days. Poop bag dispensers and water fountains are available on site, though the fountains are not always operational, so bringing your own water and a portable bowl is recommended.

Red Bud Isle Dog Park (3401 Redbud Trail, Austin)

Red Bud Isle Dog Park is a must-visit for water-loving dogs, surrounded by water on three sides and offering 13 acres of recreational space where visitors can also kayak, hike, and canoe. Pack a few towels for drying off after a swim, and note that parking requires a fee, which goes toward maintaining the peninsula park. Dogs that prefer to skip the off-leash area can still enjoy the nearby trails on a leash.

Onion Creek District Park (7000-7098 Onion Creek Drive, Austin)

Onion Creek District Park features a beautiful rocky creek where dogs are welcome to swim, alongside shaded trails frequented by walkers and cyclists. The area is not fenced, so keeping a close eye on your dog is important, particularly around bikes and groups of people. The scenic surroundings make it one of the most picturesque dog-friendly places in Austin, and it provides a great backdrop for a picnic.

Shoal Creek Greenbelt (2400 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin)

Spanning 76 acres of trails along a gorgeous creek corridor, Shoal Creek Greenbelt offers a wonderful mix of urban and natural environments. The park is open daily with no parking or entry fee. Park staff ask that owners closely supervise their dogs in the off-leash area at all times.
