Shelby Farms Dog Park

If you’re in the mood for a little road trip, head about 14 miles east of downtown Memphis and visit the amazing Shelby Farms Dog Park. This enormous park boasts 100 acres for your dog to enjoy. Part of the 4,500-acre Shelby Farms Park, the dog park is adjacent to walking trails and other areas that are dog friendly, but require a leash. The off-leash portion of the park, called The Outback, has open fields, wooded trails, and several ponds. Because of its size, it isn’t usually very crowded. Dogs have plenty of room to roam, explore, and enjoy the natural surroundings at their own pace.

There is drinking water for your dog as well as a washing station, but bring your own waste bags. There are no separate areas for large and small dogs. For travelers looking for wide-open space and scenic outdoor adventures with their pup, Shelby Farms Dog Park is a memorable stop.

Overton Bark Dog Park

Just east of the Memphis city center you’ll find Overton Park. This 342-acre public space contains the Old Forest State Natural Area, Veterans Plaza, Memphis Zoo, Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, and more. Tucked into this gem of an urban park is the Overton Bark Dog Park. This fully fenced, off-leash park has 1.3 acres of space divided into separate areas for large and small dogs. This is a nice, natural park with lots of shade and rustic benches. With a mulch and dirt surface, you may need to use the on-site wash station.

Overton Bark is a great place to bring your social pooches. There will be lots of friends at this popular destination. Overton Park hosts a variety of events, so check their calendar and see what’s happening while you’re in Memphis. The combination of shade, space, and a welcoming atmosphere makes this a favorite gathering place for both dogs and their owners.

Central Bark Dog Park

This little 0.15-acre dog park sits in the heart of Memphis, in one of its quiet neighborhoods. What used to be a vacant lot is now a nice place to bring your canine companions for some exercise and socialization. With a wood-chip surface and separate areas for large and small dogs, Central Bark has places for humans to sit while their dogs play. There is some shade from a canopy and umbrellas, but this is not a tree-filled space.

It’s not fancy, but Central Bark is a great place to let your pup off their leash for a bit as you walk the city. Don’t forget to bring waste bags. Its convenient location and relaxed setting make it a practical stop for visitors exploring Memphis with their dogs.

City of Memphis Dog Park

This was the very first dog park in Memphis, dating back to 2010. The City of Memphis Dog Park sits right next to Frank Tobey Park, so you might hear it referred to as Tobey Dog Park. Located just east of the city center, not far from Overton Park, the City of Memphis Dog Park is a 1.5-acre grassy space designed for dogs to play and socialize. The park features two separate areas. Rather than dividing dogs strictly by size, the smaller section is intended for small, senior, and shy dogs, allowing them to enjoy a more comfortable play environment away from energetic companions.

The City of Memphis Dog Park includes benches for pet owners, waste bags, and drinking water. The fully fenced park offers a welcoming setting for both local visitors and travelers exploring Memphis with their pets. While there is some shade available, the trees are still relatively young. One of the best features of this dog park is that it remains open 24 hours a day. This added convenience is especially helpful for travelers arriving late, departing early, or looking to fit in a walk around a busy itinerary.

This wooded park features separate areas for small and large dogs, along with a secure double-gated entrance for added peace of mind. Maintained by a nearby shelter, Bartlett Dog Park is clean and well cared for, with waste bags available throughout the park. There are plenty of benches where owners can relax while their dogs play, and kiddie pools provide a refreshing way for pups to cool off during the warmer months.

There is no drinking water supplied at Bartlett Dog Park, so be sure to bring water for your dog. The natural wooded surroundings create a calm atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to spend a leisurely afternoon outdoors. The City of Bartlett also requests that all visiting dogs have current vaccinations and licenses.

Mudd Island Dog Park

Don’t let the name fool you Mudd Island Dog Park offers one of the most scenic settings for dogs and their owners in Memphis. Located along the Mississippi River within Mississippi Greenbelt Park, this off-leash dog park features separate areas for small and large dogs and a well-maintained grassy surface. The flat, two-acre park provides plenty of open space for running, playing, and socializing. Shaded seating areas help visitors stay comfortable, although the shade comes primarily from covered benches rather than trees.

Of all the dog parks in Memphis, Mudd Island Dog Park may offer some of the most memorable views in the city. Look one way for sweeping views of the Mississippi River and the other for a glimpse of the vibrant Memphis skyline. Be sure to bring water for both you and your furry companion. While water is available on-site, visitors recommend bringing a backup supply just in case. This riverside park is a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy some quality outdoor time with your dog.

Sea Isle Dog Park

Not far from Shelby Farms, you'll find Sea Isle Dog Park, a smaller but welcoming destination for dogs looking to run, play, and burn off some energy. This fully fenced dog park includes water, bowls, and several shaded benches where owners can relax while their pets explore. Located within the larger Sea Isle Park, it serves as a convenient stop for travelers and locals alike.

Sea Isle Dog Park is also situated near a pleasant walking trail, making it easy to continue your outdoor adventure once your dog is ready to get back on leash. The combination of open play space, shade, and nearby walking paths makes it a comfortable choice for a casual outing with your pup. The dog park and the surrounding park areas are free and open to the public. Be sure to bring your own waste bags, as they are not supplied on-site.
